Memory

Memory is what a workflow keeps from one run to the next: the last version of a page it watches, the last invoice it read, the people it already wrote to. The workflow reads and writes it with the memory tools, and your agent can use the same tools in a chat.

There are two kinds of memory:

  • Workspace memory is shared by every workflow and chat of the workspace.
  • The memory of a workflow is kept for every run of that workflow. It is deleted with the workflow.

Each piece of memory is an item: a key, such as page:https://example.com/pricing, and a value in JSON. An item stays until someone deletes it, or until its expiry passes.

Open the menu of your workspace and choose Memory. Only the Administrators and Authors of the workspace see this page; the other roles do not see it in the menu.

The page has one list for Workspace memory and one for the memory of each workflow. Each item shows its size, its last change, when it expires and who set its expiry.

Press the key of an item to open it. The page of the item shows:

  • its Value, the JSON that the workflows and chats read. Opening it here does not count as a use;
  • Used by: each workflow and chat that read or changed the item, with its last read and its last change.

A workflow can give an item an expiry when it writes it. You can set, change or remove it yourself:

  1. Open the item and press Set an expiry, or Change the expiry.
  2. Type a number and choose Hours or Days, then press Save the expiry. To keep the item until it is deleted, press Remove the expiry.

The item is deleted that long after its last change, and each change starts the time again. A workflow does not replace an expiry that you set.

  • To delete one item, open it, open More and choose Delete item.
  • To delete the memory of one workflow, or all of workspace memory, press Delete this memory or Delete workspace memory below its list.
  • To delete every item, open More at the top of the page and choose Delete all memory.

Each delete asks you to confirm it, and it cannot be undone. A workflow that reads a deleted item finds nothing, as on its first run.
