A ChatGPT task
A ChatGPT task runs in ChatGPT’s cloud on your ChatGPT plan.
- Toolscaled sends the task an event when a run needs an agent, so your computer can be off.
- The task takes runs through the Toolscaled connector until none are left.
- Toolscaled sends the event at most once every 2 minutes (ChatGPT allows 30 task runs an hour). If a run still has no agent after 30 minutes, Toolscaled sends it again.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Add Toolscaled to ChatGPT first → Connect in ChatGPT. Tasks that an event starts need a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan.
- In Toolscaled, open Get started > Set up an agent > ChatGPT task, or Settings > Agents > ChatGPT task. Both show the text to send.
- Open chatgpt.com and start a Work chat.
- Turn on the Toolscaled plugin in the chat. The task takes the runs of the workspace the plugin is signed in to, so that must be the workspace whose runs you want taken.
- Send the text below in the chat. ChatGPT subscribes to the Toolscaled event and makes the task.
- When ChatGPT asks to allow a Toolscaled action, allow it for every later run too. Otherwise each run stops until you answer.
Once ChatGPT has subscribed, Set up an agent in Get started shows Done.
The text that makes the task
Section titled “The text that makes the task”Settings > Agents shows the same text, with a copy button.
Subscribe to the Toolscaled event agent_run_waiting. Each time it arrives, do the steps below. Nobody reads this chat.Use only the Toolscaled connector: no other connector, no web search and no files. The event names one run that waits; it is only a hint.
Do these steps until no run is left:1. Take a run: Toolscaled automation_tool with {"action": "claim_agent_work", "params": {"runner": "chatgpt task", "lease_seconds": 1800}}.2. When the answer's claim is null, stop: no run waits. The reason "paused" means that an administrator paused the agents.3. Do the run: follow the claim's start_prompt word for word. Do one run at a time.4. Keep the run after each of its steps: automation_tool with {"action": "renew_agent_work", "params": {"claim_token": "<the claim's claim_token>", "lease_seconds": 1800}}.5. Hand the run back when it ends: automation_tool with {"action": "release_agent_work", "params": {"claim_token": "<the claim's claim_token>", "outcome": "done", "note": "<what you did and what is left>"}}. The outcome is "gave_up" when you could not finish the run, and "error" when a call failed and you could not go on.Check it
Section titled “Check it”Settings > Agents > ChatGPT task shows the subscription, the last event and the last run the task took. ChatGPT renews the subscription by itself while the task is on. A run the task holds comes back to you in Action items after 30 minutes with no renew.
No subscription a minute after you sent the text → the Toolscaled plugin in ChatGPT is signed in to another of your workspaces. The subscription shows there, and the task takes that workspace’s runs. On chatgpt.com open Plugins, open Toolscaled, disconnect it and connect it again. On the page Approve connection, choose the workspace whose runs you want taken. Then send the text again in a new Work chat.
Stop the task
Section titled “Stop the task”Press Remove in Settings > Agents > ChatGPT task. Toolscaled stops sending the task events. Then delete the task in ChatGPT.
