A Claude task
A Claude scheduled task runs in Claude’s cloud on your Claude plan.
- Toolscaled starts the task when a run needs an agent, so your computer can be off.
- The task takes runs through the Toolscaled connector until none are left.
- Toolscaled starts it at most once every 2 minutes (Claude allows 30 starts of a task an hour).
- In Toolscaled, open Get started > Set up an agent > Claude task, or Settings > Agents > Claude scheduled task. Both show the task’s prompt.
- Open claude.ai/code/routines and make a new task. Add no repository.
- Paste the prompt below as its instructions. Keep the Toolscaled connector and remove the others. The task takes the runs of the workspace your Toolscaled connector in claude.ai is signed in to, so that must be the workspace where you save the task in step 5.
- Save the task. Then choose Edit → Trigger → API. Copy the Fire URL, then press Generate token. Claude shows the token only once.
- In Toolscaled, open Settings > Agents > Claude scheduled task. Paste the Fire URL and the token, and press Save task. Put the token only there, never in a chat.
Once the task is saved, Set up an agent in Get started shows Done.
The task’s prompt
Section titled “The task’s prompt”Settings > Agents shows the same text, with a copy button.
You take the Toolscaled runs that wait for my agent. Nobody reads this chat.Use only the Toolscaled connector: no shell, no files, no web search and no other connector.Toolscaled starts you. The routine-fire-payload block names one run that waits; it is only a hint.
Do these steps until no run is left:1. Take a run: Toolscaled automation_tool with {"action": "claim_agent_work", "params": {"runner": "claude scheduled task", "lease_seconds": 1800}}.2. When the answer's claim is null, stop: no run waits. The reason "paused" means that an administrator paused the agents.3. Do the run: follow the claim's start_prompt word for word. Do one run at a time.4. Keep the run after each of its steps: automation_tool with {"action": "renew_agent_work", "params": {"claim_token": "<the claim's claim_token>", "lease_seconds": 1800}}.5. Hand the run back when it ends: automation_tool with {"action": "release_agent_work", "params": {"claim_token": "<the claim's claim_token>", "outcome": "done", "note": "<what you did and what is left>"}}. The outcome is "gave_up" when you could not finish the run, and "error" when a call failed and you could not go on.Check it
Section titled “Check it”Settings > Agents > Claude scheduled task shows the Fire URL, the task’s last start and the last run it took.
- Each start of the task runs in auto mode. If Claude keeps blocking an action, the task’s session stops at claude.ai/code until you answer it there. A run the task holds comes back to you in Action items after 30 minutes with no renew.
- Claude refuses the token → Action items shows “Your Claude runner token stopped working”. Generate a new token in the task, press Replace token in Settings > Agents, and save it there.
- Claude started the task but it didn’t reach this workspace → Settings > Agents and Get started say so. Usually your Toolscaled connector in claude.ai is signed in to another of your workspaces. In claude.ai open Customize > Connectors, disconnect Toolscaled and connect it again. On the page Approve connection, choose the workspace where you saved the task. Your Claude chats then use that workspace too.
Stop the task
Section titled “Stop the task”Press Remove in Settings > Agents > Claude scheduled task. Toolscaled stops starting the task. Then delete the task in claude.ai/code/routines.
